Common Heat Treatment Preparation Questions
Q: How long do we have to be out of the house?
A: This can vary depending on the layout of your house, but on average you will have to be out of your house for 12 hours. This gives ample time so your house can cool down and the chemical application can dry.
Q: What do we do with all of our clothes?
A: If your clothes are hanging, then they will be fine and the heat will be able to penetrate through your clothes to get rid of the bed bugs. If they are in a dresser, you will have to remove them and run them through a dryer that will reach at least 140 degrees. Once dry, place them in a clean bag that can be sealed at the top.
Q: Do I have to get rid of all my furniture?
A: No, you don’t have to get rid of all your furniture. We treat your furniture so you can save it. Beds, couches, dressers, and any other furniture should remain in the house so it can be treated.
Q: Are my electronics going to be okay?
A: Your electronics will be fine as long as they are turned off and unplugged from the wall. Other items such as candles, pressurized items, and medications need to be removed from the house or placed in the fridge.
